Posted February 14, 2007
The long-awaited home opener is finally here.
Scorpion Baseball NAIA style gets rolling at 4 p.m. Thursday, February 15, with a doubleheader at Scorpion Field against Viterbo University of Wisconsin, as part of a five-game series.
The Scorpions and V-Hawks meet for two seven-inning games Thursday and Friday, February 16, also starting at 4 p.m. The two teams meet for a single game at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 17.
UTB/TSC played a five-game series on the road to start its season February 9-11, the first three against Mary Hardin-Baylor University and the last two against Texas Lutheran University, both NCAA Division III opponents. The Scorpions finished 0-4-1.
Viterbo is located in La Crosse on the western edge of Wisconsin against the Black River and bordering southeastern Minnesota. It's the season opener for the V-Hawks, who have yet to practice outdoors this spring because of snow on the ground. From the period from February 7-13, high temperatures have ranged from 10 to 25 degrees, with lows temperatures between 10 degrees below zero to 16 degrees above zero.
Temperatures for the series are expected to be in the 50s to the 70s.
