Women Golfers Tied for 4th Place After 1st Day

SALADO -- The UTB/TSC women's golf team sits tied for fourth place after the first day of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor University Lady Crusader Spring Invitational Monday, February 26.

Southwestern University leads the women's division with a team score of 335, followed by host UMHB at 349 and Lubbock Christian University third at 365. The Scorpions are tied with Western Texas College at 369 in the 13-team field at the Mill Creek Golf Course.

April Martinez led the Scorpion efforts with a 44-42=86 total, good for a sixth place tie. Two golfers share the first-round lead with 81s.

Other Scorpion scores were Tara Calderon with 92, Annette Valdes with 95, Allison Valles with 96 and Dena Dutchover with 102.

The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes Tuesday, February 27.
