The UTB/TSC
women's golf
team
ends its
regular
season
Monday and
Tuesday,
April 16-17,
at the Red
River
Athletic
Conference
and Region
VI
Championships
at the Rawls
Golf Course.
The individual medalist and the winning team qualify for the NAIA National Championships May 15-18 at Lake San Marcos Country Club in San Diego, California.
April Martinez has been the most consistent golfer for the Scorpions during the 2006-07 season. She has finished in second place in tournaments twice and has finished in the top 10 in every tournament this year.
When the Scorpions competed in the NJCAA a year ago, Martinez qualified for the national tournament. Because the Scorpions as a team have not finished high in the standings, Martinez' only hope for a return to the nationals at the NAIA level would be to finish first in the tournament.
Also competing for the Scorpions will be Tara Calderon, Allison Valles, Annette Valdez, and Dena Dutchover.
The next action for the women's golf team will be at the Red River Athletic Conference and Region VI Championships April 16-17 in Lubbock.
