Women Golfers Open Season in Oklahoma

Bent greens were unfamiliar to the UTB/TSC women's golf team, and it showed at the Oklahoma City Star Classic Golf Tournament Monday, October 2.
The Scorpion golfers were 67 strokes behind tournament leader Oklahoma City University after the first day of the two-day tournament at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
April Martinez shot an opening round 85 to lead the Scorpions, who had a team score of 367. Allison Valles shot an 89, Tara Calderon a 92, and Annette Valdez 101. The Scorpions were in 11th place out of 13 teams after the first day of play.
Host OCU led the field with a first-round 300, while McLennan Community College had a 314 and Redlands Community College a 317.
Sydney Cox, Christina Cung and Ashley Sholer of OCU were 1-2-3 in the standings after the first day of the tournament with scores of 72, 73 and 75, respectively.
The tournament concludes Tuesday at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
