Women's Golf Team Off To Slow Start

The UTB/TSC women's golf team continued to struggle in the final day of the Oklahoma City University Star Classic Tuesday at the Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
The Scorpions finished in 11th place out of 13 teams with a two-day total of 737, shooting 368 on the second day after a 369 the first day.
Host OCU won the tournament with a 599. Redlands Community College was second with a 618 and McLennan Community College third with a 622.
April Martinez, the regional champion at the junior college tournament last spring, improved to an 82 from her first-round score of 85. Allison Valles shot a 89-91 for a 180 total, Tara Calderon 94-92 for a 186, and Annette Valdez 101-103 for a 204.
The next action for the women's golf team will be at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor Invitational in Belton October 16-17.
