Calderon's 87 Leads Women Golfers After 1st Day

Tara Calderon shot an 87 to lead the Scorpion women golf team efforts the Tyler Junior College Invitational Golf Tournament Monday at the Oak Hurst Country Club in Bullard, located just south of Tyler.

April Martinez shot a 90, Allison Valles a 91 and Annette Valdez a 102 for the Scorpions, whose 370 score was third out of three teams in the women's field of the tournament.

Lon Morris leads the field with a 325, while Tyler Junior College had a 336. Fiona Smith of Lon Morris leads the women's field with an opening round 74.

The final 18 holes of the 36-hole tournament will be played Tuesday. It is the final tournament of the fall season for the Scorpions.
