Southern Nazarene Tourney

The UTB/TSC women’s golf team
finished in eighth place of the Southern Nazarene
University Invitational Golf
Tournament at the Rose Creek Golf
Course Tuesday, September 18.
The Scorpions shot a second-round total of 351 after an first-round 345 for a 696 total, 68 strokes behind tournament champion Oklahoma City's 628.
Junior April Martinez led the Scorpions with a two-day total of 162, shooting an 83 Tuesday after an opening-round 79. She finished in tied for ninth place in the individual medalist standings, 10 strokes behind medalist Nicole Race of Redlands Community College.
Freshman Rae-Anne Lerma finished with a 173, shooting 89 Tuesday after a first round 84. Tara Calderon had a 178 (90-88), Allison Valles 183 (92-91), and Annette Valdes 209 (104-105).
"I'm upbeat about our scores," Scorpion head coach Bob Lucio said. "We brought only one group of five here to see how they could do. We'll have two teams at the next tournament."
The women golfers will join the Scorpion men's team at their next competition in the Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Invitational October 1-2 in Belton, Texas.
