Signing Completes Men's Soccer Roster
July 20, 2007
Antonio Vernaschi
from Birmingham, England, has signed a Red River Athletic Conference Letters of
Intent, completing a roster for the UTB/TSC men's soccer team.
Head coach Dan Balaguero has assembled a 29-man roster for the Scorpions' inaugural men's soccer season.
"Antonio is a
gifted central midfielder with great passing range," Balaguero said. "He is a player who attracted the interest of many other programs but decided to come here, which is great news for us. I expect him to make an immediate impact."
Vernaschi played on Prince Henry High School's soccer team, and represented Worcestershire County, where his team reached the final 16 of the English Schools National Tournament.
With recruiting now completed, Balaguero has begun to focus on starting practice and the season.
“When I arrived early March I knew I had to get to work and hit the recruiting trail hard, to bring in quality student-athletes was beyond my expectations,"Balaguero said. "This would not have been possibly without the assistance of the athletic administration and admissions staff. I am also grateful to my contacts that have assisted me in bringing the athletes here. I am very excited, becauseI know we have a good class coming in and recruiting could not have gone any better."
