Men's Soccer Scorpions Win 2nd Straight, 3-1

MUSKOGEE, Okla. -- The UTB/TSC men's soccer team won its second straight game, a 3-1 decision over Rogers State University here Saturday, September 8, in the Bacone Classic.

"The guys played absolutely tremendous, it was a great day for us," Scorpion head coach Dan Balaguero said. "Today was the best we have played this year. The guys with college experience are the ones who are helping the younger guys."

For the second straight day, Fernando Ocete scored twice to lead the Scorpions. On Friday, September 7, he scored twice in the Scorpions' 6-0 win over Bacone College. 

On Saturday, Ocete scored twice within two minutes, first in the 20th minute unassisted and then two minutes later on with an assist by Brian Hardie.

The Scorpions extended their 2-0 halftime lead with a goal by Marco Malovic in the 28th minute, assisted by Mark McCormick.

Rogers State scored in the 70th minute for the final goal of the game. The Scorpions outshot the Hillcats, 14-7. Scorpion goalkeeper Boyan Maric had six saves.

The Scorpions (2-1-1), return home before hitting the road again September 14-15, against Our Lady of the Lake University and Huston-Tillotson University, respectively. Their next home game is Thursday, September 20.
