De Leon Signs Letter of Intent to Join Scorpions
Posted May 6, 2008
Bianca De Leon of San Benito High School has signed a Red River Athletic Conference Letter of Intent to join the UTB/TSC women’s soccer team.

De Leon, an attacking midfielder, is the fifth player to sign with the Scorpions for the 2008 season. In 2007, UTB/TSC finished 13-7, won the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament championship, and qualified for the NAIA Region VI playoffs. She attended a tryout camp in April to show Scorpion head women’s soccer Nik Barjaktarevic her skills.

“De Leon will be a great addition to our team this fall and we are very excited to sign this Valley standout,” Barjaktarevic said. “She really took advantage of the opportunity at the tryouts, did very well and gave us a chance to see her in variety of different situations. Bianca is an attacking player, has a feel for the goal, and can play in a variety of offensive positions either upfront or in the midfield. She is also a great student which is a great benefit to her.”

De Leon is the first women’s soccer player from San Benito to join the Scorpions. She scored 10 goals and had 16 assists for the Greyhounds.
