Candia Named RRAC Offensive Player of the Week

Scorpion junior Lena Candia has been selected as the Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Aug. 27– Sept. 4.

She was also named Region VI Player of the Week and was nominated for NAIA National Player of the Week.

Candia, a midfielder/forward from Malmo, Sweden, led the Scorpions to victory in the UTB/TSC’s first women’s soccer game, a 3-1 win over Texas A&M International University. She booted in all three of the Scorpions’ goals as the Scorpions started off its history and season at 1-0 last week.

Holly Rowland of Texas Wesleyan University was honored as the RRAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates.
