Candia, Rootes Receive RRAC Player of the Week Honors

For the third straight week, Scorpion junior Lena Candia has been selected as the Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 10-16.

Teammate defender Carling Rootes received the Defensive Player of the Week honor and was also named Region VI Defensive Player of the Week.

Candia, a junior midfielder/forward from Malmo, Sweden, scored four more goals and had two assists in two victories last week over McPherson College and York College as the Scorpions won the Southwestern Assemblies of God Tournament.

Rootes, a freshman defender from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, helped the Scorpions hold its opponents to two goals in two games. Against York, Rootes was the defensive force that held York without a shot on goal.
