Posted September 19, 2007
With almost half of the season behind them playing away from home, the UTB/TSC women's soccer team opens its home campaign against Huston-Tillotson University at 5 p.m. Thursday, September 20, at Morningside Park (1207 S. Central Ave., Brownsville).

The Scorpions have played their first eight games on the road on in neutral sites, and have gone 5-3 thus far. UTB/TSC is already 1-0 in RRAC play this year, defeating Bacone. HTU will be playing its first conference game.

The Thursday game marks the ninth game for the Scorpions and the halfway point of their inaugural season.

The Scorpions have not faced HTU this year, but will meet the Rams again in Austin in a non-conference game October 7. HTU has played only two games this year, losing to Texas College 3-1 and to Northwood University, 11-1, in a RRAC game.

Lena Candia, who has won the first three RRAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, leads the team in goals (10), shots (27), and shots on goal (23). Laura Pina leads the team in assists with four.
