Scorpions Overwhelm College of the Southwest,

The UTB/TSC women's soccer team overpowered
College of the Southwest, 8-0, at Morningside Park Saturday, September 22.
The win kept the Scorpions unbeaten in Red River Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 record, and improves the Scorpions to 7-3 overall. CSW dropped to 0-7, 0-1.
UTB/TSC was on cruise control for much of the game, taking 30 shots compared to none for the Mustangs. The Scorpions controlled the ball throughout the match; CSW rarely crossed the midfield stripe.
Goalkeepers Jessica Hamer and Jacqui Ruiz were rarely challenged.
Lena Candia got the Scorpions got on the scoreboard quickly, scoring in the third minute and again in the eight minute.
Aleisha Cassie then scored in the 31st minute and Zita Garcia scored her first goal of the season in the 42nd minute as the Scorpions held a 4-0 halftime lead.
Mayra Solis then had a pair of goals, one in the 55th minute and again in the 60th minute. Cassie had her second goal of the night in the 72nd minute, and Vanessa Gallegos capped off the scoring in the 75th minute.
Cassie had two assists, and Candia, Gallegos, and Tiffany Hernandez had one assist each.
CSW conceded the game after the eighth Scorpion goal, so the game ended after 75 minutes.
The Scorpions will be on the road for the next two weekends, visiting Northwood University and Texas Wesleyan University in Cedar Hill and Dallas on September 28 and 29, respectively.
