FORT WORTH -- The UTB/TSC women's soccer team dropped its second straight decision in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex over the weekend after a tough 2-1 loss to Texas Wesleyan University here Saturday, September 29.

The loss dropped the Scorpions to 3-2 in the Red River Athletic Conference and 7-5 overall. Texas Wesleyan improved to 2-0 in conference and 5-4-2 overall.

"With the two conference losses, the Scorpions are virtually out of the running for the regular season conference championship with only two conference games left.

"Obviously, this game meant a lot to us," Scorpion head coach Nik Barjaktarevic said. "We had our opportunities, but we couldn't convert our chances. We will have to work hard to stay near the top for the conference tournament."

On Friday, the Scorpions lost to Northwood University, 3-1.

Texas Wesleyan took an early 1-0 lead in the 15th minute, a lead that would stand up at halftime.

The Scorpions tied it at 1-1 in the 65th minute on a header by Cristin Resing, her first goal of the year, after a corner kick by Aleisha Cassie.

TWU won it in the 68th minute on a long 35-yard shot that hit the crossbar and went inside the net.

The Scorpions hit the road October 6 for a game against Houston Baptist University and then visit Huston-Tillotson University in Austin October 7.
