Texas A&M-Kingsville Stops UTB/TSC, 3-0; Scorpions Finally Play at Home This Weekend

KINGSVILLE -- The UTB/TSC women's volleyball team could not muster a consistent offense and dropped a 3-0 decision to Texas A&M University-Kingsville Tuesday, September 30, at the Steinke Center.

The Scorpions lost sets by scores of 25-17, 25-15, and 25-14. They are now 1-13 for the season while the Javelinas improved to 4-11.

“I’m happy with the way we played, we still made some mistakes but did a better job at recovering from the mistakes,” Scorpion head coach John Barnes said. “They are a good team.”

After a string of 10 straight matches on the road, the Scorpions are finally play their first home match of the season at the Manuel Garza B. Gymnasium when they host Our Lady of the Lake University Friday, October 3, and Huston-Tillotson University Saturday, October 4.

Jeanne O'Leary led the Scorpions with eight kills while Katie Japp had six and Amanda Ozuna five. Libero Lesly Montes had nine digs while setter Chelsea Spadaro had 19 assists.

“It will be nice to play at home this weekend and against some NAIA schools who are not ranked.”
