The UTB/TSC Volleyball Scorpions, ranked atop the NAIA Region VI poll released Monday, play in the friendly confines of the Manuel Garza B. Gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against Our Lady of the Lake University.

The Scorpions are 5-3 this season, defeating three out of four NCAA Division II opponents last week. Previously, they defeated two regional rivals in the South Padre Invitational August 24-25.

OLLU, a new provisional member of the NAIA, is 1-5. The Saints are in their first year playing volleyball.

The Scorpions have made an impression on a lot of people thus far this season. Their 5-3 record is ranked ahead of Oklahoma City University, which is 7-1. Regional ranks are released on Monday during the season.

"We're happy about the ranking, but what matters most is where we are ranked at the end of the regular season," Scorpion head coach Marcus Young said. "We need to stay strong so that we can focused on our conference matches."

Middle blocker Talita Milasauskas leads the Scorpions with a 4.1 per game average in kills and 1.4 per game average, both of which lead the Red River Athletic Conference. She also leads the team in aces with a 0.6 average.

Setter Daianrah Bracero leads the conference in assists with a 11.4 per game average, and Claudia Alarcon leads the team in digs with a 2.7 average.

After Tuesday's match, the Scorpions hit the road for matches against Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Southern Nazarene University and Texas Wesleyan University on September 7-8.
