Scorpions Win 2 Important Matches in Nebraska

Neb. -- The UTB/TSC Scorpions' women's volleyball team took care of
business at the Hastings College/Quality Inn Tournament
Saturday, September
15 with two important victories.
The Scorpions were impressive in a 3-0 win over Dordt College (Iowa) by scores of Saturday evening. In the early match, the Scorpions blanked Concordia College (Neb.), 3-0.
The Scorpions are now 12-4 for the season. Dordt came into the match with a 15-2 record and had been nationally ranked earlier in the season.
"We hit the heck out of the ball, we blasted it, we played great," Scorpion head coach Marcus Young said. "This was an important win for us, because now we’ve opened up a lot of eyes for a lot of people."
The Scorpions went 3-1 in the tournament, with their only loss to 24th-ranked Northwestern College (Iowa) on Friday, 3-1. UTB/TSC came into the weekend as the 25th-ranked team in the NAIA polls and is expected to remain at that level.
Scorpion middle blocker Talita Milasauskas and setter Daianarah Bracero were named to the All-Tournament team.
The Scorpions will be home for their first Red River Athletic Conference match of the season against College of Southwest at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 18 at the Manuel B. Garza Gym.
Scorpions 3, Dordt (Iowa) 0 (30-27, 30-24, 30-16)
Dordt came into the tournament with only two losses against teams in the Midwest and was surprised by Scorpions' best performance of the season.
Milasauskas was a force at the net, and had her first triple-double of the season with 13 kills, 11 blocks and 11 digs. Bracero had 40 assists and three blocks.

Claudia Alarcon had an impressive game as well, adding 12 kills and nine digs. Katie Japp added 11 kills and 7 digs.
Scorpions 3, Concordia (Neb.) 0 (31-29, 30-25, 30-22)
The Scorpions bounced back from the loss to Northwestern (Iowa) on Friday with an impressive three-game victory over Concordia.
Jenny Ashley led the way with 16 kills and four blocks while Talita Milasauskas had 11 kills and four blocks.
Setter Daianarah Bracero had nine kills to go with her 40 assists and six digs. Katie Japp added four kills and nine digs.
